The Verge is an art project based on documentary photographic materials from the Second World War. After working in various photography archives, I came up with the idea of tracing the lives of individuals during this period. Previously unknown negatives from Soviet and German sources allow us to see
the everyday realities of the war from both sides.

The box containing the family archive was found at a flea market in Berlin,
while the negatives from the Soviet photographers were initially stored for years in the offices of Soviet newspapers. After the fall of the USSR the newspapers were liquidated, and the negatives found their way into a private collection.
